October is approaching, and with it - traditionally - the winter season on courts. Given the current situation, one can expect that this year on the courts it may be a bit cooler than usual. All the more important will be choosing the appropriate attire for the game - not only comfortable, but also one that will provide us with the necessary thermal comfort.
Winter and health
We often have concerns and doubts about practicing sports in low temperatures. Unjustifiably, winter is not at all the most risky time of year when it comes to susceptibility to infections. It is much more important to be careful in the early spring. Practicing sports in lower temperatures has many advantages - it hardens our bodies and makes us healthier. Lower temperature and humidity also have a favorable effect on our performance.
Head covering
The basis of comfort in practicing sports in the winter is, of course, the appropriate clothing. Some parts of our body are particularly prone to frostbite, and this can be disastrous for us. One of the most important elements is head covering, because we lose most of the heat through our head. Depending on the temperature outside and personal preferences, we can choose from a variety of hats and headbands.
Fashion or comfort? Both!
We cannot imagine the winter season on the court without a hoodie: it is perfect for getting to the court, great for warming up (then we usually take off the hood, because - let's face it - it significantly limits the field of vision) and indispensable after training (the sweaty head covers the hood, the throat is protected by the collar - warm, nice and comfortable). Of course, with significantly low temperatures, we throw a jacket over the sweatshirt or a vest.
A popular method for surviving the winter warmly is to dress in layers, in so-called onions. However, it is not about putting on as many layers as possible. Although it is sometimes hard for us to believe, overheating during winter activity is just as likely as freezing, and what's more - just as unpleasant. In addition, dressing in more layers than necessary will restrict our movements and make the training, which is supposed to bring us joy, turn into a torture. So in the initial phase of the game we have on a sweatshirt, under it a shirt with short or long sleeves - depending on preferences and temperature.
The lower part of the wardrobe is also equally important. Great choices in this case are leggings or trousers that will not restrict movement (for women) and tracksuits (for men).
Feet and hands
It is also extremely important to cover the ankle and Achilles tendon area. These are not only very sensitive to the cold, but also prone to injury. Under the influence of cold, tendons stiffen, making it easy to damage them, even tear them. Treatment of injuries in this area is exceptionally time-consuming and ungrateful, so it is all the more worth preventing the appearance of such problems. Comfortable shoes (which we have already written about here) and soft socks are a must.
Appropriate materials
The key to comfort is the selection of clothing made of appropriate materials. Thermal clothing, produced for the needs of physically active people, will work great at low temperatures. We cordially encourage women to check out our huge selection of lingerie.
We also encourage men to check out our compression sweatshirts, shirts and boxers
Benefits of practicing sports in winter
Winter is a time of cold and short days, when it is difficult for everyone to find motivation to act. However, it is worth remembering that it is a great time to take care of your fitness and health. During regular training, the body warms up, sweats and removes toxins. During exercise, the body must cope with cold, dry air, which increases tolerance to low temperatures. During training in the cold air, we burn more calories, so... winter, let it be!
