A sports top, what is it anyway? For starters, it's worth remembering that it's not a piece of underwear, let alone, a sleeveless t-shirt. A racy top has a distinctive cut that fits and enhances the figure. Sports tops can be, and often are, an exceptionally stylish piece of on-court clothing.

Tops are becoming increasingly popular in tennis. This is hardly surprising - a well-fitted top fits the body, always staying in place and at the same time does not restrict movement. Manufacturers are competing to come up with attractive designs, colours, cuts and styles, and tennis players are increasingly tempted by the range of sexy and comfortable strapless sports shirts. Nothing accentuates shoulder or shoulder blade muscles as nicely as a tennis player's top.

Which top to choose?

Contrary to what you might think, a sports top is not just a summer outfit, although, of course, all its benefits will be most appreciated on hot days, when the lack of sleeves will provide additional cooling and the moisture-absorbing material will ensure comfort in hot weather. However, it should not be forgotten that a sports top is ideal on colder days under a sweatshirt or even a jacket.

There are a few rules to bear in mind when choosing a top for yourself: small-breasted ladies will look best in tops with a turtleneck or stand-up collar or thin straps. On the other hand, ladies with larger breasts should opt for thicker straps or a V-neck.

A top looks great with tennis shorts, preferably loose-fitting and high-waisted.
