Brand history
The Puma brand is a German sportswear, footwear and accessories company that was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler. Dassler had previously collaborated with his brother Adolf, who founded the Adidas brand.
Puma is known worldwide for its innovative products, which are very popular with athletes and physical activity enthusiasts. The brand is associated with comfortable sports shoes that provide stability and comfort during running, training and other activities.
Puma brand characteristics
Puma also stands out for its concern for the environment. The company has various environmental initiatives, such as the use of eco-friendly materials in production, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the conservation of water resources.
It is also interesting to note that the Puma brand has had its logo in the form of a puma since its inception. This symbol has become one of the most recognisable logos in the world.
Puma's connection to tennis
The Puma brand had links with tennis. In the 1970s and 1980s, Puma was one of the main manufacturers of equipment and clothing for tennis players. Many of them, including Ilie Năstase, Björn Borg, Guillermo Vilas and Martina Navrátilová, wore Puma products during their matches.
In 1974, Puma launched its first tennis shoe model, the Puma Match. These shoes became very popular due to their unique design and comfort. Throughout the 1980s, Puma continued its presence in tennis with the launch of new shoe models, including the Puma Court Star and Puma California, which also gained recognition among tennis players.
Today, Puma continues to offer a wide range of tennis-related products, including shoes, apparel and accessories for professional players and amateurs.
