Roland Garros – The Heart of French Tennis
Roland Garros, officially known as the French Open, is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. As part of the Grand Slam, the tournament has been held since 1891 and, since 1925, has attracted the greatest stars of international tennis. It takes place in Paris's 16th arrondissement at the Stade Roland Garros, which was built in 1928 to honor the success of the "Four Musketeers" – legendary French tennis players Henri Cochet, René Lacoste, Jean Borotra, and Jacques Brugnon.
The most important clay-court tournament is renowned for its unique atmosphere and unforgettable matches. Among the men, Rafael Nadal holds the record, having triumphed in Paris 14 times, earning him the undisputed title of "King of Clay." On the women’s side, Chris Evert has won the most titles in the Open Era, claiming the trophy seven times.
In recent years, the tournament has delivered plenty of excitement. In 2024, Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first Roland Garros title, defeating Alexander Zverev in the final. Among the women, Iga Świątek emerged victorious, winning her fourth title in Paris.
