A racquet, shoes, outfit - it's impossible to play tennis without it. But in addition to such obvious parts of tennis equipment, there are a whole range of tennis accessories on the market - some of which will make the game more comfortable, others will help protect your health or help you achieve better results. Here are three things - or perhaps, more precisely, three categories of accessories that we believe are a "must-have" for any tennis player.
Before you make your first shot
You buy your dream racket, of course, right away with a string matched to it, and you think you can start playing already. Nothing could be further from the truth! It is absolutely necessary that you need 2 more accessories for your racket: overgrips and vibrastops, called also dampers.
Keep in mind that each tennis racket is factory-equipped with a so-called base wrap, on which you still place an additional overgrip. Overgrips are much thinner than base wraps and provide more precise and comfortable play, as the racket slips less in the hand. The main criteria to follow when choosing an overgrip is its thickness, viscosity and... color.
It is worth remembering that the thinner the overgrip, the better the feel of the racquet in the hand, and therefore better control - the thicker the overgrip - the softer the racquet in the hand and less vibration. Thicker overgrips also better protect against finger prints. Due to the viscosity of the overgrips, we divide them into dry and wet - the latter definitely sticks better to the hand, but this can have a negative impact on the speed of grip changes. The last criterion for choosing a overgrip - color - is already a matter of personal preference. It is worth remembering that an interesting color of the overgrip can change - boost - the appearance of the whole racket!
Overgrips should be changed often - as soon as you notice that the racket is slipping in your hand or the material has become unaestheticly dirty - which is particularly easy on clay courts.
Play hard for your health!
Vibrastops, which are special rubber pieces pressed between the strings of a tennis racket, dampen the vibrations created during a hit and prevent them from being transferred from the racket frame to the player's arm. For years there has been a fierce debate among those involved in tennis as to whether vibrastops are necessary or just an useless gadget. In other words: do they really protect the arm from unfavorable vibrations or do they merely prevent the unpleasant buzzing of the racket strings at hitting. However, we would like to strongly emphasize that almost every professional tennis player uses a damper - so it seems certain that vibrastops are beneficial to health.
Besides, a tennis racket with a vibration damper plays much better, it's easier to focus on the hit and make a more precise movement - so it's really worth getting one, especially since the number of colors and designs of vibrastops is stunning! It's hard to resist a friendly portrait of your favorite pet or the symbol of your tennis idol or a cheerful face.
Comfort during the game
Of course, comfortable clothes made of technical fabrics and well-fitting shoes are the absolute basics, but right after them, a towel is essential on the court. This is an accessory that will not only increase the comfort of the game, but will definitely contribute to better results. Tennis is a very dynamic sport, during which you excrete a lot of sweat, so you will definitely appreciate a moisture-absorbing towel, with which you can instantly wipe your face or hands. The necessity of tennis towels is evidenced by the fact that no professional tennis player goes out on the court without them.
Also, every club player should prepare at least one clean towel for himself before going to the court, which will undoubtedly come in handy during practice or play. A stylish towel with a sporty character perfectly complements the equipment of any tennis player and looks great. Tennis towels are made of high-quality cotton, which makes them extremely pleasant to the touch and characterized by high absorbency. Thanks to their excellent quality, they perform flawlessly even for many years. It is also worth remembering that such excellent quality towels will be useful in any home, for example, in the role of original bathroom or beach towels. Durable and comfortable to use, they catch the eye with their design, and in use will meet the most demanding requirements.
As you can see from this overview, we really have a lot of tennis accessories that you will find useful. Let us know what accessory you can't imagine playing tennis without - perhaps you use something we haven't mentioned? We'd love to hear from you.
