Tennis dresses

Ever since tennis began, the sport has been inseparably connected with fashion, especially women's fashion - and the traditional women's attire on court was the dress. Initially, it was mandatory to wear a long dress with a bodice and buff sleeves. The revolution in women's sports dresses was brought about by Coco Chanel, who made a loose-fitting white dress that barely reached... her knees! She thus set trends for years to come.

Which dress to choose?

Nowadays, tennis dresses are produced in every conceivable colour and cut. Of course, manufacturers make sure that they are lightweight, do not restrict movement, wick away perspiration well and adapt to the movements of the body, so we can forget about bodices and buff sleeves! It's also worth remembering that while most tennis skirts have built-in shorts, dresses, on the other hand, are usually sold complete with shorts and often have built-in sports bras. This is extremely convenient as it's not uncommon for tennis dresses to be sleeveless and often have thin straps, so a built-in bra is not only comfortable but also guaranteed to fit the dress perfectly.

The classic colour of tennis outfits is, of course, white. This tradition is embraced by the likes of EA7, who mix tradition with modernity, adding bold colours, floral prints and modern VENTUS7 technology to white, as well as Nike, who, in keeping with the current retro trend, designed a beautiful dress with a polo collar and flared bottom. At the other end of the scale, as it were, there are multicoloured dresses by Adidas or Hydrogen for those who prefer to stand out on court.

Some female tennis players may have a bit of a problem as to where to keep a spare ball during play. This undoubtedly depends on the outfit, e.g. leggings often have built-in pockets for balls, shorts are also often designed with pockets, but for dresses and skirts, two solutions are the most popular: hiding the ball under the leg of the shorts or getting a practical ball picker.
